ABPM

With ambulatory blood pressure monitoring ( ABPM ) your blood pressure can be measured over a 24-hour period whether you are awake ,asleep ,eating ,working . When you’re at the doctor’s or clinic, a sphygmomanometer is used to take your BP reading only at that time .

If your doctor suspects that you are suffering from hypertension or some other blood pressure problem, he or she may refer you to a medical professional who specializes in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. This is a non-invasive treatment that uses a special cuff attached to a small monitor to measure your blood pressure for 24 hours .It can be set on a frequrncy of 1 hr or 2 or 4 hrs

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is used to measure your blood pressure when you’re awake. The process for doing this will be the same as doctors or nurses do in the surgery. You will be given a blood pressure machine to use at home. Wrap the cuff around your arm just above the level of the elbow, and make sure the tubing is in the right position. You should sit up comfortably with your arm supported and at heart level. Press the button to inflate the machine and record it from there.
